About the Artist

THE ARTIST

Artist Carmine Greco, painter, sculptor, designer and ceramicist, offers unique handpainted  art that reflects the color and warmth of the Vallo di Diano in the Campania region of Italy, his birthplace.  

This talented artist has dedicated over 40 years to his art, beginning with his studies in Turin where he developed his distinctive style studying under the well- known Italian artist Francesco Tabusso. He then returned to his hometown of Sala Consilina where he was born in 1953.  Embedded in his unique art are the sun and colours from the valley of his birthplace.

 

AWARDS & RECOGNITIONS 

In 1997, he was awarded the International Prize for Painting by the" Regione Lombardia per la pittura"  in Milan and in 2004 he  was named “Artist of the 21st Century” by the" International Academy Petrarca " di Viterbo. Renowned art critic, Giorgio Tellan, has praised Greco’s work saying; “The capacity to express both the sacred and the profane in a fusion of traditional and modern styles is the proof of the artist’s excellent versatility in giving to his works the mark of his personality.” Published in “Guide to the Arts” edited by COMED in 2003.

COLLECTIONS

His works are on display in public and private collections all over Italy and in the  UK,  Venezuela, France, Germany, Canada and Switzerland. In the  United States, Greco’s panel of the Archangel Saint Michael  is  on display at the Roman Catholic Church dedicated to the Archangel in Paterson, N.J. where the community holds a week long celebration in honor of the Saint, patron of Sala Consilina. 

MEDIA COVERAGE

Numerous newspapers, RAI, (the Italian Public Broadcasting Corporation), local and regional television channels have dedicated news and programs to the artistic activities of Carmine Greco. Maestro Greco is the  President of the  Associazione  “ARTigianato”  (ARTisans Association) of Sala Consilina. He is also very involved in community service in his hometown and volunteers his time to teach  art to young upcoming artists and to children with various disabilities.
